NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil & Gas Operational Safety

Course Overview

The NEBOSH International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety is designed specifically for those with safety responsibilities in the oil and gas industry. The course focuses on international standards and management systems, enabling students to effectively discharge workplace safety responsibilities both onshore and offshore. The course will be delivered by NEBOSH accredited trainer. In addition to 5 days professional training, the students will benefit from one day extra for review before the exam day.

NEBOSH Entry Qualifications

There are no mandatory pre-entry qualifications required for the International Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety. However, a background in the oil and gas industry will assist many elements of the course.

NEBOSH Examinations

Unit IOG 1 is assessed by a two hour written examination . Standard examinations are held 4 times a year in March, June, September and December. If needed local examinations can be reset at additional cost.

Reasonable Adjustments

For students whom English is not their mother-lounge language, we can assist them in setting the (Reasonable Adjustments) so candidates can take bilingual dictionaries to the exam and 30 minutes extra time will be permitted only if the students take a dictionaries and are seen to be using them.

COURSE OUTLINE

The NEBOSH Technical Certificate in Oil and Gas Operational Safety covers the principles of process safety management in the oil and gas industries. The syllabus takes a risk management approach based on best practice and international industry standards.

  2. Hydrocarbon Process Safety 1
    • Explain the principles of assessing and managing contractors, including the roles of parties involved
    • The tools, standards, measurement, competency requirements and controls applicable to Process Safety Management (PSM) in the oil and gas industries
  3. Hydrocarbon Process Safety 2
    • Outline types of failure modes that may lead to loss of containment from hydrocarbon
    • Types of failures that may lead to loss of containment from hydrocarbon
    • Fire hazards, risks and controls relating to hydrocarbons
    • The hazards, risks and controls available for operating boilers and furnaces
  4. Fire Protection and Emergency Response
    • Outline appropriate control measures to minimize the effects of fire and explosion in the oil and gas industries
    • The principles, procedures and resources for effective emergency response.
  5. Logistics and Transport Operations
    • The main hazards of and suitable controls for marine transport in the oil and gas industries
    • Identify the main hazards of and suitable controls for land transport in the oil and gas industries
